the day that never came
was the day we all went insane
when the rivers stopped crying
and the sun just rolled away
bohemian grotesque images
wondered all over the inside
of the eye, as cats
ran away purring on
“his master’s voice”
muttered songs we’re shouted
and everyone obeyed
unknown orders of panic and dismay
as silent streets turned
bloody and grey
final gong of this play
was knee-wrote for a day
incapable of silent words
we just doodled in pray
as shepherds faded away
uptown
